| Several years ago, Hannah Sutter walked away from a £500,000 job as a corporate lawyer in the City to set up her company Go Lower. The company provides consumers with home delivery of ready-to-eat food as part of a specially designed metabolic weight loss programme.
Hannah first got the idea for Go Lower whilst working as a corporate City lawyer. She saw two very fat men get thin and stay thin, and realised that they didn’t do this by counting calories, having red or green days or living on protein shakes. They ate real food. These men had gone to private doctors and paid enormous amounts of money to unearth the secret of easy weight loss, and it seriously piqued Hannah’s interest.
Hannah says “Once I learned what they had done, I decided to find out if the science behind the diet was robust. I gave up my full time career and, after 3 years of research and speaking to some of the very best bio-chemists and doctors across the UK and the US, I found out how this metabolic diet works, and how I could do it for myself.”
The first products Hannah produced as part of the Go Lower programme were healthy snack bars, which went on to become very successful both in the US and the UK. In more recent years, Hannah expanded the business to help design and set up the complete meal delivery service that she runs today.
Hannah argues that the food industry does not care about consumers, and is more concerned with profit that what they put in their products. She says, “The person behind Go Lower is a real consumer. I am the guardian of the low sugar low carb message!” Controversially perhaps, Hannah does not agree that going to the gym is necessarily part of the weight loss solution, and is passionate about her belief that eating delicious, healthy food on her metabolic diet, will bring the consumer both rapid and long lasting weight loss.
Hannah lives with her GP husband in Edinburgh.
