BRENDA EMMANUS

Amanda Ursell

Brenda Emmanus has had both an exciting and varied career in the media, extending her skills in print journalism to radio and television broadcasting.  Her warm and vibrant presentation style can currently been seen as Arts, Culture and Entertainment Correspondent for BBC London News.

Previously, Brenda had made her mark as one of the main presenters on BBC 1’s The Clothes Show, which she hosted for five years.  She increased her profile hosting the BBC’S Midweek National Lottery, and interior design programme The Terrace.

Brenda expanded her range of experience as a regular face on Granada Television’s popular daily magazine programme This Morning, where she teamed up with Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan as their fashion and entertainment reporter.

As a freelance presenter Brenda worked as an arts and entertainment reporter for Channel Four News, travel reporter on BBC’s Holiday programme, and as a main presenter on Healthy Holidays and Money Matters for Granada Television.

Brenda’s journalistic skills have led to her interviewing major international celebrities including actors Clint Eastwood, Denzil Washington, Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez; numerous recording artists including David Bowie, Celine Dion, and the late Barry White and endless theatre, arts and sports stars.

Equally, at home with serious and lighter topics, Brenda presented investigative reports and topical documentaries for BBC’s Black Britain, and regional magazine programme Inside Out.  As a sharp contrast she hosted an hour live Christmas Edition of  Songs of Praise.

Brenda’s radio work further exemplifies her multiple skills.  As well as being a guest on various mainstream and independent stations, she has presented her own show on BBC Radio 2 and the World Service; been a regular guest on Radio 5 Live and Radio 4’s Woman’s hour as well as BBC London 94.9.

When not working Brenda’s hobbies include travel, music, the arts, interior design and of course the company of her young daughter Marley!
