Amanda graduated from King’s College, London University with a degree in nutrition and a post-graduate diploma in dietetics. She worked for several years in the health service practicing dietetics
She is the author of ten books on nutrition including a whacking great tomb called ‘Healing Foods’ (Dorling Kindersley), a sensible but fun weight loss guide called ‘You Sexy Thing!’ (Thorson’s) and ‘Beauty Super Foods’ (Mitchell Beazley) which looks at anti-ageing from the inside-out. Her latest publication, ‘What Are You Really Eating?’ (Hay House) for is due for release in the UK. It is also to be released in America, where for 2 years she wrote a bi-weekly column called ‘On Nutrition’ for the Los Angeles Times.
Currently she writes weekly columns for The Sun, The Sunday Times Style magazine and Woman’s Own, she also has a monthly page in Sainsbury’s magazine and is the nutrition editor of Men’s Health.
Amanda presented Channel 4’s first investigative food programme Food File she has also hosted her own show for Living called The Diet Show and has been a regular guest presenter on Tonight with Trevor McDonald. For over ten years she appeared on the GMTV sofa as their resident nutritionist and as nutritionist on their highly successful Inch Loss Island strand.
Amanda is a member of the British Dietetic Association, a visiting fellow of Oxford Brookes University and a committee member for the Guild of Health Writers.
Having categorically always declared that there are only two things in her life she would never do, one scuba diving, two sky diving, she has in the last year, tried both, got hooked on the first, was scared witless by the second and now scuba dives (and writes on diving) as often as possible with her boyfriend in Mauritius.
